A Typical Day

Through play, children develop language skills, their emotions and creativity, social and intellectual skills.”(Early Years Matters, 2017) The EYFS curriculum sets high standards for the learning, development and care of our children.

Each class has a different schedule and timetable with age-appropriate activities that are specially designated for children to ensure a smooth run of the daily routine. A typical day in Giggles consist of the following:

Meet and Greet

7:00 a.m.
Morning meeting is a time to greet everyone and start our day. Activities at meet and greet include tabletop activities such as playing with Lego, blocks, puzzles or lacing, cutting, tracing and colouring activities. We also sing good morning songs and welcome the children to the nursery.

Breakfast

8:00 a.m.
Children begin their breakfast with hand washing. Children are provided with the food sent from home for breakfast. Our nursery has a peanut-free policy and we encourage parents to send healthy and well-balanced meals.

Indoor/Outdoor Play

8:30 a.m.
We offer a variety of developmentally appropriate activities, as well as teacher-facilitated activities, that promote learning in the different areas of development.

Circle Time

9:00 a.m.
Activities during circle time include class discussions, show and tell, and group games. During circle time we follow the themes and topics planned for each day, week and month according to the curriculum. We also review the calendar, weather, and an introduction to the activities for the day.

Teacher guided learning activities

9:30 a.m.
Teacher guided time include two of these topics every day:

– Language and Literacy
– Mathematics and Manipulative Play
– Arabic, French or Quran
– Sensory Play or Arts & Crafts
– Science
– Music & Movement
– Storytelling

Lunchtime

between 11:00 – 12:00 noon

Indoor/outdoor play

12:00 p.m.

Children will enjoy in our outdoor playground or indoor garden. This is a time for children to develop their balance, coordination, and gross motor skills as well as to participate in, practice listening and waiting skills, sharing and waiting for their turn and socializing with their friends.

Table top activities

01:00 p.m. 

Activities such as Lego, play dough, puzzles, building blocks, lacing, colouring and cutting allow children to develop their creativity, fine motor skills and coordination.

Snack Time

02:00 p.m.

Pick up Time

03:00 p.m.

Children gather personal items, receive handouts, and wait for their parents or guardian to pick them up.

Fun Thursday

Every week

Every Thursday, we prepare fun activities for the children to experience that matches the theme of the month and reinforce learning. Also, it will develop a child’s confidence and independence during ‘Show and Tell’.
